Mary Webb. “Beyond.” Typescript poem, one leaf, 4½″ x 4½″, white wove paper mounted on white ruled paper. Eight lines, two stanzas, one ink correction. Cut from a larger sheet, and with the penciled number “48” in upper-right corner. In this short pessimistic poem Webb’s naturalist’s knowledge serves her well in her choice of sharp simile and metaphor.
