Mary Webb. “Christina Rossetti.” Manuscript poem, one leaf, 5¾″ x 7″, white laid ruled paper. Twelve lines in two stanzas. Webb studied and admired the work of Rossetti, as well as the writings of Keats, Blake, Swinburne and Browning (Coles, The Flower of Light, 1978, p. 74). The poem implies that Christina Rossetti was under-recognized and under-appreciated during her lifetime, and Webb may have seen a reflection of herself in the earlier Rossetti.
