Webb / Oct. 1922. / Spring Cottage / Lyth Hill / Salop—.” This was Henry Webb’s own copy of his wife’s third novel. Later owned by William Targ (1907–1999), bookseller, publisher, and editor-in-chief of G. P. Putnam and Sons. Targ is best known for publishing Mario Puzo’s novel, The Godfather (1969).
